East Windsor is a township in the southeast corner of Mercer County that wraps all the way around the Borough of Hightstown. Much of it was farmland until suburban growth arrived, and today most homes date from the 1960s onward: colonials, split-levels and ranches on regular suburban lots, plus a large share of townhouse and condo communities. The terrain is flat, with the sandy, easy-digging soils common in this part of Central Jersey. That makes excavation simple but puts the focus on base, drainage and the shape of the finished surface.
Walkways that make an entrance
Original concrete walks on many East Windsor homes are now forty or fifty years old, with cracked sections, sunken joints and a plain look. Replacing a straight concrete path with a paver walkway, maybe curved or bordered in a darker color, gives a colonial or split-level a much stronger front. We tie it into new steps or a landing so the whole entry matches.
Backyard patios on flat ground

A flat yard is a good starting point for a patio, but flat is also where water likes to sit. We build paver patios on a compacted base with a gentle pitch away from the house, and we plan where that water ends up. Steps from a slider or French doors down to the patio finish the space.
Steps and driveways
Precast or poured stoops from the original build often settle and pull away from the house. We replace them with new concrete steps on a footing, finished plain or faced in brick or stone. Aging driveways get torn out and replaced in concrete, asphalt or pavers.
A short planning list
- HOA approval. Townhouse and condo owners should confirm what the association allows first.
- Township permits. Steps, driveways and aprons may need approval from the township.
- Drainage on flat lots. Every new surface gets a planned slope and outlet.
- Utilities. We have underground lines marked before any digging.
