Bergen is the most populous county in New Jersey and also one of the most varied. A single afternoon of estimates might take us from a brick colonial in Ridgewood to a split-level in Paramus to a two-family in Garfield. Because our main office is on Division Avenue in Garfield, Bergen homeowners are our closest neighbors.
The work Bergen homeowners ask for most

Front steps that match the house. Postwar capes and ranches were usually built with plain concrete or brick steps that are now cracked, settling or simply dated. We rebuild them with brick, stone veneer or poured concrete steps, add bluestone treads and finish with new railings so the entry looks like it belongs on the home.
Paver patios and outdoor rooms. Backyards in Bergen range from small fenced lots in Lodi and Hasbrouck Heights to large wooded properties in Wyckoff and Franklin Lakes. On the smaller lots we focus on a clean, usable patio. On the larger ones, homeowners often add seating walls, a fire pit or an outdoor fireplace.
Driveways. Many Bergen families have more cars than their original single-car driveway can hold. We replace and widen driveways in concrete, asphalt or pavers, with a base built to handle plowing and freeze-thaw.
Brick and foundation repair. Older housing in Hackensack, Englewood, Teaneck and Rutherford often needs repointing, chimney work and foundation crack repair after decades of weather.
Water, soil and the Meadowlands
Southern Bergen includes the Hackensack Meadowlands, a wide area of former tidal marsh. Towns like Little Ferry, Moonachie, Carlstadt and East Rutherford sit on low, soft ground, and the Saddle River corridor through Lodi and Saddle Brook has its own history of high water. In those neighborhoods we pay close attention to grading, base depth and where runoff will end up. A patio or walkway that sheds water toward the foundation will cause problems no matter how well the pavers are laid, so drainage is part of the design from the first sketch.
Farther north the ground rises, and properties around Mahwah, Oakland and Ramsey can have slopes and rock that call for retaining walls and stepped layouts.
Before you schedule work in Bergen County
- Check impervious coverage. Many Bergen towns limit how much of a lot can be covered by hard surfaces. A new patio or wider driveway may need a zoning review in addition to a building permit.
- Curb cuts belong to the town. Driveway aprons and curbs are usually regulated by the municipality, and some county roads have separate rules. We find out who controls your frontage before planning the work.
- Sidewalk repair is typically the owner’s job. If street trees have lifted slabs in front of your house, we can replace the damaged squares to match local specifications.
- Spring fills up fast. Bergen is busy, and the first warm weeks bring a rush of requests. Getting your estimate done in winter makes it easier to lock in a spring start date.
