Englewood Cliffs runs along the top of the Palisades, with the Hudson below and Englewood to the west. Alongside its corporate campuses are residential streets where many original midcentury houses have given way to large, newer homes, often with stucco or stone facades, three-car garages and in-ground pools. That shift has changed what people ask for. A patch of concrete behind the house will not do; the outdoor space is expected to match the architecture.
Pool decks and coping

The deck is what you see and touch most around a pool. We build paver and stamped concrete decks on a deep, compacted base and pitch them away from the water toward drains or lawn. Our pool masonry also covers coping, raised spa walls and stone veneer on retaining walls near the pool.
Outdoor rooms
On a larger lot it makes sense to plan the yard as a set of spaces. Typical elements in an Englewood Cliffs project:
- An outdoor fireplace or fire pit with built-in seating
- A dining patio close to the kitchen door
- Low-voltage lighting in steps and walls for evening use
- Seating walls that double as edges for planting beds
Our outdoor fireplaces and fire pits are built on a proper footing and faced in stone to match the house.
Modern entries
Newer homes here often use clean lines: large-format pavers, thick bluestone landings, stacked stone veneer and horizontal railings. We build entries that match that look instead of defaulting to traditional details.
Rock and drainage on the ridge
Shallow rock is common on the Palisades. It makes excavation for pools, footings and walls slower, and it means water does not always soak in. We design drainage into every large hardscape project so runoff is carried away rather than pooling against the house or on the deck.
We serve Englewood Cliffs as part of Bergen County, along with Englewood and Tenafly. Request a free estimate to plan your outdoor space.
