Monmouth County covers a lot of ground, from the boardwalk towns along the ocean to the horse farms of Colts Neck and the suburbs around Freehold and Marlboro. What ties it together is how people use their yards. Outdoor living is a big part of life here, and the projects we see reflect that: pool decks, patios with fire pits, outdoor kitchens, and front entries that look sharp from the street.
What we build for Monmouth County homes

Pool decks and coping. Inland towns like Holmdel, Colts Neck, Manalapan, Marlboro and Howell have a lot of in-ground pools, and many of those decks are cracked, faded or uneven. Our pool masonry work covers coping, stamped concrete and paver decks, and the patios and seat walls around them.
Patios, fire pits and outdoor rooms. A full backyard plan often brings together a patio, a fire feature, lighting and steps down from the house. Our hardscaping work handles the layout so each piece fits together and drains properly.
Front steps and entries. Older shore homes in Red Bank, Asbury Park, Ocean Grove and Long Branch often have steps that have been patched for years. We rebuild them in concrete, brick or stone veneer with bluestone treads and fresh railings.
Stucco. Stucco is common on newer shore houses and on some older homes near the water. We repair cracked and stained stucco and apply new finishes that are made to handle moisture.
Building near the coast
Coastal properties need a little more thought. Salt spray and steady wind speed up wear on mortar joints, metal railings and exposed concrete surfaces. Dense concrete that has cured properly, compatible mortar and the right sealer go a long way, and rinsing salt off in season helps too.
Soil is the other big factor. Much of the county is sandy, especially toward the coast. Sand drains well, which is good, but it can move. A paver patio or driveway on sand needs a deep, well-compacted base and solid edge restraint, or the edges can drift and settle over time. We set the base to suit what we find when we dig.
Homes near the ocean, the Navesink and Shrewsbury rivers, and the Raritan Bay can sit in a flood zone. Towns may have extra rules on fill, grading and elevation for those lots. We check those requirements early so the design works the first time.
Before you start
- Every town handles permits its own way. Middletown, Wall, Freehold Township and the shore boroughs each run their own departments. We confirm what is needed for steps, walls, pool decks and driveway aprons.
- Plan around the summer season. Many families want the pool area ready by Memorial Day. Booking an estimate in winter is the best way to make that happen.
- Think about drainage on flat lots. Flat, sandy yards still need a plan for heavy rain so water moves away from the house and the pool.
- Our offices are in Garfield and Hawthorne. Monmouth County is part of our regular service area, and we schedule work here on a steady basis.
