Brielle is a borough at the southern edge of Monmouth County, set along the Manasquan River with marinas, boatyards and homes that back onto the water or onto lagoons. Inland streets have a mix of older homes and newer, larger houses, many with in-ground pools. Being close to the river shapes almost every outdoor project here, because the ground stays wetter and storms can push water up.
Pool decks that drain
In-ground pools are common in Brielle backyards, and a deck that pitches the wrong way or sits on a soft base quickly shows it. Our pool masonry work rebuilds coping and decks in pavers, stamped concrete or stone, with the surface set to carry water away from the pool and the house. On lots where the water table is high, the base needs extra attention so the deck does not heave or settle.
Letting water soak in

Not every surface needs to be solid. Near the river, a mix of pavers and bluestone set in gravel gives you places for furniture and paths while letting rainwater move into the ground instead of running off. This approach can help on lots where drainage is slow. Our hardscaping plans balance solid and open areas to suit the yard.
Entries and rear doors
Many homes have French doors or sliders that open to the pool or river view. We build stone or paver steps at those doors, with landings sized for traffic between the kitchen and the yard. Low voltage step lights can be built into risers for evening use.
Riverfront checklist
- Flood zone status. Check it early, since it can change what is allowed.
- Base depth. Wet soils need more stone and better compaction.
- Salt and brackish water. Choose railings and fasteners that hold up near the water.
- Basement and crawl space moisture. We can look at the foundation while we are there.
