Holmdel is a quiet, suburban township in northern Monmouth County, known for spacious lots, mature trees and larger homes. Many properties have in-ground pools, long driveways and backyards with plenty of room. That space changes the conversation. Instead of fitting a small patio into a tight yard, Holmdel homeowners are often planning a complete outdoor living area.
Pool patios built as one design
A pool is usually the center of a Holmdel backyard, and the area around it can do a lot more than hold lounge chairs. We replace tired decks and coping through our pool masonry work and extend the hardscape into dining and lounging areas, planters and seat walls. Stamped concrete, pavers and natural stone each give a different look. We set elevations so water runs away from the pool, the house and the lawn.
Fireplaces and gathering spaces
An outdoor fireplace or fire pit makes a backyard usable well past summer. On larger lots there is room for a full masonry fireplace with a hearth and seating around it. These are heavy structures, so they get their own footing below the patio base. We also plan for lighting, so steps and edges are visible after dark.
Stone veneer and entries
Front entries matter on bigger homes. Stacked stone on a porch, a garage wall or a foundation, paired with bluestone steps and a landing, gives the house a finished, substantial look. Our stone masonry and brickwork includes veneer installed over the right backing with flashing and weep details, so it sheds water instead of holding it.
Walls, grades and driveways
Some Holmdel lots roll and slope, which is where retaining walls come in. A well built wall can create a level terrace for the pool or patio and hold back a hillside garden. Long driveways are another common project. Paver driveways on a deep base hold up well and can be repaired in sections if needed.
Planning a larger project
- Township approval. Pool area work, fireplaces, walls and driveway changes may need permits. We handle the paperwork.
- Pool barrier and equipment. We plan around fencing, equipment pads and plumbing lines from the start.
- Phasing. Bigger plans can be built in stages, for example the pool deck this year and the fireplace next. We design it all up front so the phases fit together.
- Lead time. Larger projects need more planning. A fall or winter estimate keeps a spring start in reach.
