Sea Girt is a small, upscale shore borough between Spring Lake and Manasquan. Its streets combine older shingle and colonial style homes with a large number of new and fully renovated houses, many of them on lots that go right up to the setback lines. Backyards tend to be compact but carefully designed, often built around a pool, an outdoor shower and a dining area. For many owners, the hardscape is the last phase of a bigger building project, and it needs to look as finished as the house.
Pool decks that match the architecture
On a tight lot, the pool deck is the backyard. We build coping and decks in pavers, bluestone or stamped concrete with clean lines, careful cuts and a pitch that moves water away from the pool and the foundation. Our pool masonry work also covers equipment pads, steps down from the house and low walls that hide filters and heaters.

Bluestone and stone at the front door
Front entries here are often bluestone landings with stone or brick risers, sometimes with a covered porch above. We build these on solid footings and set the stone with tight joints so the entry stays crisp. When we finish the entry and the walkway together, the materials and borders tie in cleanly.
Outdoor rooms on smaller lots
Fireplaces, fire pits and seating walls give a compact yard more use into the fall. We size outdoor fireplaces and fire pits to the space and think about neighbors’ windows when placing a chimney. Low lighting in steps and walls lets the space work after sunset.
Coordinating with a build
- Final grades should be set with the hardscape in mind.
- Utility lines for lighting, gas and irrigation go in before pavers.
- Borough approval may cover walls, pool areas and lot coverage.
- Timing around the summer season matters for neighbors and rentals.
We also work in Spring Lake, Manasquan and across Monmouth County.
