Tinton Falls is a large borough in central Monmouth County, with Shrewsbury, Eatontown, Wall and Colts Neck among its neighbors. Its housing covers a wide range: older homes near the historic center by the falls, mid-century neighborhoods, newer single family subdivisions, townhome developments and large age-restricted communities. Much of the land is gently rolling with some wooded sections. Because so many residents live in association communities, a project here often starts with an approval process as well as a design.
Patios for every kind of lot
In single family neighborhoods, paver patios are often large and paired with steps down from a deck or slider. In townhome and adult communities, the patio is usually a defined footprint behind the unit, and the goal is to make it more usable with better pavers, a small extension or a seat wall. Either way, we build on a compacted base with solid edges.
Retaining walls on rolling ground

Gently sloped lots can still push water toward the house and make a patio hard to level. A retaining wall in segmental block or stone creates a flat area and controls runoff. We install drainage stone and a pipe behind the wall and step the base so it stays straight for years.
Easier access at home
Many owners here want entries and patios that are simple to use with fewer steps. Low risers, wide landings, sturdy railings and slip resistant finishes all help. Where the grade allows, a gently sloped walkway can replace a step entirely.
Before you call
- Association approval may be needed for patios, walls and walkways.
- Borough permits can apply to walls, steps and driveway aprons.
- Shared drainage in townhome areas must not be blocked.
- Gas and electric lines should be marked before excavation.
We also work in Shrewsbury Township, Eatontown and across Monmouth County.
