West Long Branch is a residential borough just west of the City of Long Branch, best known as the home of Monmouth University. Away from campus, it is mostly quiet streets of capes, ranches, colonials and split levels from the middle of the twentieth century, on comfortable lots with mature trees. Many families have lived in their homes for decades. The ground is mostly flat, and since the borough sits back from the beach, salt is less of a concern than plain aging: walkways that have heaved, stoops that have settled and concrete that has scaled after years of winter salt.
Front walkways with a fresh look
The original walkway on many homes is a narrow strip of concrete, cracked where tree roots have lifted it. Replacing it with a wider walkway in stamped concrete, pavers or bluestone changes the look of the front yard. We route it around roots where possible and set it on a compacted base so it stays flat.
Stoops and steps

Settled front stoops often leave a gap at the house and a step that is no longer even. We rebuild them on proper footings in poured concrete or with brick and stone veneer, and add railings sized to the entry. Rear steps down to the yard can be rebuilt at the same time, often leading onto a new patio.
Repairing instead of replacing
Not every worn slab has to go. When the concrete is still level and solid, concrete repair and resurfacing restores the surface for less disruption. When it has broken into pieces or sunk, replacement is the better value.
Common issues we see in established neighborhoods
- Tree roots lifting walks and driveway edges.
- Salt damage on stoops and aprons from years of winter treatment.
- Downspouts draining onto walkways and freezing.
- Damp basements tied to poor grading along the foundation.
We also serve Long Branch, Oceanport, Eatontown and all of Monmouth County.
