Green Township is quiet, rural Sussex County: farm fields, horse properties and wooded hills, with neighborhoods of single-family homes on lots measured in acres rather than feet. A good share of the houses were built in the last few decades, typically colonials and split levels with a deck off the back. Those homes are solid, so owners here tend to call us about the yard rather than about repairs.
From deck to patio
Many homes came with a wooden deck that is now worn out. Replacing it with a ground-level paver patio gives you a surface that does not need staining and has more room for furniture. Where the back door sits high above the yard, we build wide steps with a landing, sometimes with low-voltage lights set into the risers.
Pool decks and surrounds

Larger lots make in-ground pools common, and decks around older pools are often cracked or heaved. We replace them with pavers or stamped concrete and set new coping as part of our pool masonry work. Drains and slope are planned so splash-out runs away from the pool and the house.
A fire feature for cool evenings
Nights cool off early in Sussex, which makes a fire pit or outdoor fireplace one of the most used features on a patio. We build them in natural stone or block with a proper base and a safe clearance from the house and trees.
Planning a full backyard
Lots here are big enough that the patio, walkway, pool deck and fire feature can be planned as one design. A few points we always cover:
- where the septic field and tank lid sit;
- how runoff from the roof and lawn will move across the new paving;
- whether a low wall is needed to level the patio area;
- how the walkway connects the driveway, front door and backyard.
We also serve nearby Andover Township and Fredon, plus the rest of Sussex County. To start a design, request your free estimate.
