Pohatcong Township lies along the Delaware River just south of Phillipsburg and around the Borough of Alpha. It mixes post war neighborhoods near those towns, older homes in small riverside villages, a commercial corridor along the highway and open farmland in the creek valleys. Lots are generally larger than in Phillipsburg, which often means longer driveways and walks, and the low ground near the creeks and river brings water into the picture.
Driveways for every kind of lot
Driveways are the most common request we get in Pohatcong. On older homes near Phillipsburg they are often narrow and cracked from decades of frost; on country lots they are long and wash out on the slopes. We replace them in concrete or asphalt, or install paver driveways for a finished look. Every job starts by digging out to firm soil and building a compacted stone base, then setting the pitch so water runs to the street or a swale instead of toward the garage. Walkways and side paths
A new driveway often makes the old front walk look worse. We rebuild walks from the driveway to the door and along the side of the house in concrete, stamped concrete or pavers, matching the driveway border so it all reads as one project.

Homes in the low ground near the river and creeks can take in water after heavy rain or snowmelt. We check grading, downspouts and window wells first, since many leaks start there. If water still gets through, basement waterproofing and crack repair stop it at the wall.

- Road aprons. Work where the driveway meets the road may need approval from the township or county.
- Flood zones. Low lots near water may have extra rules. We check first.
- Phasing. Driveway first, walks later is a fine plan if the grades are set up front.
- Downspouts. Tie them into the new grading so water goes where you want it.
