Jamesburg is a small, self contained borough surrounded on nearly every side by Monroe Township. The two are separate municipalities, and the difference is obvious on the ground: Jamesburg’s older streets have homes set close together, front porches facing the sidewalk and short driveways, while much of the township around it is newer and more spread out. Concrete porches and steps are the heart of our work in the borough.
Porch slabs and front steps
Many Jamesburg houses have a concrete porch floor a few steps above the walk. Over time these slabs crack, pitch toward the house instead of away from it, or separate from the steps below. We remove the old concrete and pour a new porch slab and steps on proper footings, pitched so water drains off the front edge. Brick or stone facing and new railings are options if you want a dressier look.

Walkways and driveways
Short concrete walks and single lane driveways are typical. When they crack and settle, a full replacement on a compacted base is usually the right answer, though slabs that are level with only surface wear can sometimes be resurfaced. A few things we look at on each property:
- how the walk meets the porch and the public sidewalk
- whether the driveway pitches toward the garage or the street
- any low spots where water sits after rain
- trees close enough to lift new concrete in a few years
Older masonry
Older homes in the borough often have brick or block foundations, chimneys and garden walls that need occasional repair. We repoint loose joints, rebuild damaged sections and patch parging so the masonry sheds water again.

Work on porches and steps that change the structure may need a permit from the borough. We check before scheduling and handle the application when needed.
