Raritan Township is the township that wraps around the borough of Flemington, the Hunterdon County seat. It is the most suburban part of the county. Neighborhoods built from the 1980s through the 2000s fill much of it, with colonials, contemporaries and larger custom homes on lots of a half acre to a few acres. Farms and preserved open space still surround the edges, and Routes 202 and 31 carry traffic through the middle.
Many of these homes are now old enough that their original decks, patios, walks and driveways are due for replacement, and owners are upgrading to pavers, stone and pools.
Pool decks and pool masonry

In-ground pools are common in township backyards. We build paver and stamped concrete pool decks, reset or replace coping, and add stone walls and steps around the pool area. Pool masonry has to deal with splash water, chemicals and freeze and thaw, so we choose materials and joints that hold up and pitch the deck away from the pool and the house.
Patios, fire pits and lighting
A paver patio off the back of a colonial is the most common upgrade we see in suburban Hunterdon. Many owners add a fire pit, a seating wall, or low voltage step lights so the space works after dark. Replacing an aging deck with a patio at grade cuts down on yearly maintenance.
Driveways and front entries
Long subdivision driveways crack and sink over time, especially at the apron. We replace concrete and asphalt drives and build paver driveways on a deep stone base. A new front walkway and steps often follow, so the entry matches.
Before a Raritan Township project
- HOA rules. Some neighborhoods review materials and colors.
- Pool permits. Pool deck and fencing work may need township approval.
- Clay soils. Patios and decks need deeper bases to resist frost heave.
- Which town. A Flemington mailing address does not mean Flemington permits.
For homes inside the borough, see our Flemington page. We also serve East Amwell and every town in Hunterdon County. Request a free estimate for your pool deck, patio or driveway.
